  329. 2.4 FABRICATION
  330.  
  331.     A.  Steel Door Frames:
  332. NOTE ** Consult manufacturer's product data for hinge
  333.         preparation options.  Coordinate with Door Hardware
  334.         section; specifying non-standard hinge types or
  335.         configurations can affect cost.
  336.         1.  Hinge Preparation:
  337.             a.  Mortise frames for indicated size, type, and
  338.                 weight hinges; provide concealed reinforcement of
  339.                 same material as frame, minimum 14 gage material
  340.                 thickness.
  341.             b.  Drill and tap holes for template hinges in
  342.                 accordance with ANSI/BHMA A156.7 template.
  343.  
  344.         2.  Strike Preparation:  Prepare single-door frames for
  345.             indicated strikes in accordance with lockset
  346.             manufacturers' templates and instructions.
  347.         3.  Closer Preparation:  Provide reinforcement for frames
  348.             indicated to receive closer hardware as follows:
  349.             a.  Standard-arm mounting:  Manufacturer's standard
  350.                 aluminum extrusion, alloy 6063-T5.
  351.             b.  Parallel arm mounting:  Same material as frame,
  352.                 minimum 16 gage material thickness.
  353.         4.  Emboss certifying agency's fire-resistance rating
  354.             labels on frames for fire-rated openings.
  355. NOTE ** Delete paragraph below if specifying Kerfed
  356.         REDIFLEX frames only.
  357.         5.  Silencers:
  358.             a.  Single interior door frames:  Mount 2 silencers
  359.                 on strike side, spaced 6 inches from top and
  360.                 bottom of door opening; mount one silencer at
  361.                 door head, at center of door opening.
  362.             b.  Double interior door frames:  Mount 2 silencers
  363.                 at door head, spaced 6 inches each way from
  364.                 meeting point of door swings.
  365. NOTE ** Delete following paragraph if weatherstrip not
  366.         required; select type or types of weatherstrip
  367.         required.
  368.         6.  Weatherstrip:
  369.             a.  Install molded weatherstrip in kerf of door
  370.                 frames having recessed kerf in stop to receive
  371.                 weatherstripping.
  372.             b.  Apply surface-mounted weatherstrip at stop of
  373.                 exterior door frames without recessed kerf in
  374.                 stop.
  375. NOTE ** Delete paragraph below if no borrowed-lite frames.

  377.     B.  Fixed-Throat Borrowed-Lite Frames:
  378.         1.  Fabricate components of same material and gage as
  379.             adjacent door frames for field assembly in accordance
  380.             with profiles, sizes, and configurations indicated in
  381.             approved shop drawings; provide concealed devices for
  382.             connection and alignment of components.
  383.         2.  Supply loose stops of cold-formed steel channels, 3/4
  384.             inch web by 5/8 inch flange by 18 gage, in lengths
  385.             for tight fit within indicated openings, formed for
  386.             butted ends at intersections; drill stops for
  387.             manufacturer's standard countersunk fasteners.
  388. NOTE ** Delete paragraph below if no sidelite frames.
  389.  
  390.     C.  Fixed-Throat Sidelite Frames:
  391.         1.  Fabricate components of same material and gage as
  392.             adjacent door frames for field assembly in accordance
  393.             with profiles, sizes, and configurations indicated in
  394.             approved shop drawings; provide concealed devices for
  395.             connection and alignment of components.
  396.         2.  Supply loose stops of cold-formed steel channels, 3/4
  397.             inch web by 5/8 inch flange by 18 gage, in lengths
  398.             for tight fit within indicated openings, formed for
  399.             butted ends at intersections; drill stops for
  400.             manufacturer's standard countersunk fasteners.
  401.  
  402. 2.5 FINISHES
  403.  
  404.     A.  Chemical Treatment:  Treat steel surfaces to promote
  405.         paint adhesion.
  406. NOTE ** Delete second paragraph if only primed doors or
  407.         frames are specified; retain both paragraphs if
  408.         doors or frames are pre-finished.
  409.  
  410.     B.  Factory Primer Finish:  Meet requirements of ANSI A224.1
  411.  
  412.     C.  Factory Baked Enamel Finish:  Meet requirements of ANSI
  413.         A250.3, and the following:
  414.         1.  100-hour salt spray test in accordance with ASTM B
  415.             117.
  416.         2.  200-hour humidity test in accordance with ASTM D
  417.             1735, with no blistering.

  419.  
  420. PART 3  EXECUTION
  421.  
  422. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  423.  
  424.     A.  Have installer verify that project conditions are
  425.         acceptable before beginning installation of frames;
  426.         verify that completed openings to receive frames are of
  427.         correct size and thickness.
  428.  
  429.     B.  Correct unacceptable conditions before preceding with
  430.         installation.
  431.  
  432. 3.2 INSTALLATION
  433.  
  434.     A.  Install frames in accordance with manufacturer's printed
  435.         instructions, and approved shop drawings; in addition,
  436.         install frames for fire-rated openings in accordance with
  437.         requirements of NFPA 80.
  438. NOTE ** Delete one of two paragraphs below; retain first
  439.         paragraph for snap-on casings.
  440.  
  441.     B.  Install casings in accordance with manufacturer's printed
  442.         instructions.

  444.     C.  Installation of wood casings is specified in Section
